Tasted 10 March 2009. 330ml bottle 5.0% Alc/Vol.
Overall this is a nice beer. My first impression was that ascetically it looked like a ‘fun’ beer and not to be taken seriously.
Life is full of surprises.
While not especially complex it has a pleasing nose of orange peel and herbal hops (albeit quite subtle). The flavour has a definite refreshing character and fullish and round through the middle palate. Again orange peel comes to mind with a touch of spice, a soft malty mouth feel and good carbonation. I thought the hop content was well balanced but not as expressive as I would prefer and not as floral as perhaps the Knappstein is. However this is a well made beer and will suit a lot of punters heading into the craft brewery scene for the first time.
